Great question!  I was asking myself the same thing not too long ago and after a bit of googling, I came up with the solution – YoYoExpert.com.  YoYoExpert.com is the US-based YoYo website owned by US National YoYo Master, Andre Boulay.

If you go to the YoYoExpert.com site you’ll see the Learn menu (see the screenshot below). Under this menu you will see a list of skill levels.  If you haven’t thrown YoYos before, or it’s been a long time, then I would suggest starting at the Beginner level.

Andre not only goes through each trick in a (fairly) easy to understand manner, he also talks about the basics of YoYos, tricks and maintenance which is extremely useful when you are just starting out.

In the Beginner’s section you’ll find all of the old YoYo favourites such as Walk the Dog, Around the World and Eiffel Tower.  One of my favourite beginner tricks is the Jamaican Flag – not because it’s hard, but because I’m sure to get a collective groan from my kids when I do this trick!  The Jamaican Flag trick is kind of like those jokes you get in christmas bon-bons – kind of funny, but really lame.

There are many other sites where you can learn how to start with YoYoing – but I’ve found this one to be the best.

So, now that you know where to go – get over to YoYoExpert.com – check out the Beginner’s section and start learning how to throw that Yo!

(oh, and by the way, YoYoexpert also sell YoYos, but I would really appreciate it if you bought your YoYos from me instead! :)
